Adopt-a-thon Rats

ANIMAL LOVERS FLOCK TO ADOPTION EVENT

Every dog has its day, and for Pickles, it was Saturday.

Come to think of it, that was Sasha's day, too.

And Suzie's, a German shepherd/husky mix who likes going for walks and socializing with others.

They were among the 51 pets adopted from the San Jose Animal Care Center, which held a special ``adopt-a-thon'' to find homes for the more than 120 animals currently housed at the shelter.

It was a good day for the shelter's directors, who saw the number of adoptions exceed their expectations. And for many San Jose residents, who found a new fluffball to take home and love.

But it was just another day for the cats, dogs, rats, rabbits and hamsters that remain, many of whom have been waiting for months for a human lap to call their own."
