Year of the Dog best for rats

By CHRIS SUGRUE

FEWER natural disasters, bumper agriculture and a lucky stretch for rats are all on the cards as the Chinese lunar Year of the Dog rolls in this weekend.

After consultation with the millennium-old astrological chart, the Chinese almanac, Jane Lee, the tour organiser of Fo Guang Shan Temple in East Tamaki, says any industry involving fire will also prosper this year, as fire is the element associated with 2006. The almanac also advises people to face north during important undertakings this year.

She says people born in the Year of the Rat (1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996) will have all the luck this year, as the almanac shows the comet Feng Shui practitioners call Flying Star 8 is heading in the Rat’s direction.

...Happy Chinese New Year !!!!
