Daily Nonpareil - Council Bluffs Daily Nonpareil - 08/19/2005 - Kittens to puppies, rats to rabbits available at city animal shelter: "A new addition has joined the rats in the front lobby of the shelter. Maurice is a little black lop eared rabbit who seems to enjoy hopping around in his kennel. Maurice was abandoned at the front door of the shelter. Rabbits are very low maintenance, and Maurice would make a great first pet for your kids.

If you need to surrender your pets, please do so during regular business hours. They are Monday through Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. and noon to 4 p. m. on Saturdays.

The rat population has doubled from last week - and now there are four little furry creatures hanging out in the lobby. Raycene and Lucy are the newest arrivals. Ms. Raycene is a year old. She's wearing a short outfit of black and white. Lucy, Raycene's friend, is 2 years old and is dressed in black and white.

Little Rascal and Blackie are very tame and like to be held and petted. Little Rascal is all dressed up in brown with light tan splotches on his back and sides. His friend, Blackie, is actually dark brown with some white accents."
